OHV and Forest Service Road Riding with the Segway Xaber 300 and Segway Xyber

The story takes place at Ray Benson Snow Park and OHV staging area off Big Lake Road near the Hoodoo area ski area.  The area has a maze of off road or trails in which the goal was to get to Meadow lake.

The trails and roads in this area are at the verge of being too much for the Xyber due to the various rock piles and extreme terrain.  This excursion pushed me and the Xyber to our limits.  Although the Xyber only used 25% of its 2 battery pack on this route compared to a 36 percent with the Xaber 300.  For those interested in exploring forest service roads that are often gravel and smooth dirt, not designated OHV routes, the Xyber is extremely well suited and its range is fantastic.  While its possible to navigate moderately technical OHV routes leave this kind of riding to the Xaber 300.

The Xaber 300 trail tires are capable, wider tires certainly would be helpful for the very soft and deep volcanic dirt and sand this country offers on these trails.   I had the pleasure of jumping a bachelor pack of elk on this debut.  I’m certain this wouldn’t have happened with a loud gas version.  The Xaber suspension handles these trails just fine.  I am not a moto cross rider, in my opinion the bike is extremely forgiving and it easily handled the moderately difficult terrain that I subjected it too.  I was touring and I honestly did not put a dent on this excursion with the Xaber 300 capability.
